Taking on the MPAA
You’d need big balls and a lot of cash to take on the MPAA, and this guy reckons he has the cash. Let’s hope he has the balls.

Excellent presentation, well worth a read if you’re into Linux/OSS/etc.
I’m Greg, and I’ve been given the time by the people at OLS to talk to you for a bit about kernel stuff. I’m going to discuss the a number of different lies that people always say about the kernel and try to debunk them; go over a few truths that aren’t commonly known, and discuss some myths that I hear repeated a lot.
Now when I mean a myth, I’m referring to something that was believed to have some truth to them, but when you really examine them, they are fictional. Let’s call them the “urban myths” of the Linux kernel.
The pace of development these days is astounding. Have a look at these archived corporate websites from just ten years ago, via Brewster Kahle’s Internet Archive. I actually remember the McDonalds one!
Is there an image out there to represent blogs yet? Foot.ie has a blog now, and at this stage it has a few posts so I was thinking of throwing a banner up to draw attention to it, but I can’t think of an image to go with it.
The RSS icons are the only thing I really associate with blogs at this point, and although I’ll probably use that for now, it’s a pity blogging as a concept doesn’t have it’s own logo.
Perhaps an Irish blogger could kick things off? We seem to be at the forefront like, might as well keep it going, keep the rest of the community* on their toes!
(Obviously the image won’t be used here, since this isn’t a blog.)
* Sorry, “blogosphere” is just a dumb word. Although it would be a good concept for the aforementioned.
Fixed now, thanks to Michele for pointing it out. Ya-boo to the rest of ye for not. Now I just need to decide whether I haven’t been getting any comments because the I borked the form when I matched the page comments to the dhtml doohickey last week, or because none of ye love me.
I love this kind of attention to detail, and the bigger the company it comes from, the more pleased I am by it. Via Scoble.
Birthday parties are very passé and blasé and other such things with accénts on them, so I’m having a Festival this year, because I’m better than everyone else. (more…)
Incredible $100m yacht built for VC Tom Perkins.
I’d prefer a 118 Wallypower meself.
Clever bit of advertising. Pity 99.9% of marketers don’t have the brains to come up with this kind of stuff. Companies would probably sell a lot more products if they didn’t go with the clueless twits that they usually employ.

I don’t know who Adam Carolla is, but I have a lot of respect for anyone that cuts that witch Coulter off in this way.
