  1. Oh yeah, so true. It’s better to pay the extra couple of Euro and buy a decent meal in a restaurant where they’ll cook the food while you wait rather than server up some microwaved mush..

Not that stops me going into Burger King or elsewhere on occasion when I’m in a hurry. Damn.

I have to confess, the thing on the right above appeals to me. But then I have been eating liquified powder for the past four months…

On the ball, Donncha – fast food at this point should be avoided altogether, especially from the megachains like McDonalds and Burger King. Have a read off “Omnivore’s Dilemma” by Michael Pollan, and it’ll scare the shite out of ye.

Since when did you read? :)

  5. Gaz – I read the original Fast Food Nation. It put me off eating in those places for a few months, but then I started to forget the details..

I saw the movie a couple months ago, wouldn’t stop me eating burgers.

Oi – I read. Cartoons, back of cereal boxes, and annoying blogs… ‘sabout it! :)

Yeah, read Fast Food Nation, and saw the movie (as well as supersize me) but none of them hit home as much as Omnivore’s Dilemma. Basically the book follows three meals – one bought at McDonalds, one bought from stuff he got at the local “organic” supermarket, and the last he hunted/gathered himself. It’s really eye opening to me – more so than the others – since he traces everything back to where it started. Shows you that fast food, in addition to being bad for the body, is fucking up the farming economy over here in de states as well, thanks to corn subsidies (fact of the day – there’s 38 ingredients in a chicken mcnugget. 13 of them come from corn, and several completely synthetic ingredients that are known poisons (but oddly are completely allowed as long as they’re in small enough quantities.) Feck that for a game of soldiers!

Jesus, I knew there was something. I’ll take a look tonight.
